Tuckpointing Process

There are many variations of tuckpointing. But only one that you truly need and that’s a full grind out and repoint of the affected area. The spot pointing process is only a short term remedy & also can look mismatched when complete.

Our tuck pointing process involves grinding or chiseling out the joint to a depth of 10 mm. Then cleaning out any debris & applying matching mortar to suit; this all allows for the best bond.

It’s vital however that the new joint doesn’t exceed the compressive strength of the unit or original joints surrounding, doing so will only result in further deterioration. Stone pointing is the same as above; the only difference is the grinding out is to the depth of 2x the width of the joint.
